What is regression therapy?

Regression therapy is a modern yet ancient form of psychotherapy. It works by guiding a person into a deep subconscious state and back into the past — sometimes into childhood, the foetal stage, or even past-life experiences — to explore where a current issue originally began.

Through regression, it becomes possible to re-experience early life events with the aim of releasing suppressed emotions and transforming thought patterns that prevent harmony and balance in the present moment.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”— Albert Einstein

Why Choose Regression Therapy?

Regression therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy that allows you to revisit past experiences and explore the root causes where your challenges began. By doing so, it helps you uncover the links between learned beliefs, past decisions, and current problems.

This process can release suppressed emotions, relieve physical and emotional symptoms, and provide new insights into your patterns of thought and behaviour. You will gain the tools to transform old patterns and bring greater balance, harmony, and joy into your life.

Key Steps in Regression Therapy

During regression therapy, you:

   * Relive past experiences and fully connect with the emotions involved
   * Understand what went wrong at the time
   * Reconsider past decisions and their impact
   * Recognise how those decisions shaped your current behaviour
   * Make new choices and adopt healthier patterns

Regression therapy can benefit all areas of your life that affect your wellbeing, including health, relationships, family, personal growth, work, and financial situation.

The true insight of regression therapy is that the answers are never outside of you.  All the insights you seek are already within, waiting to be discovered.

Metamedicine and Emotional Conflict

According to the principles of Metamedicine, an emotional conflict can arise in a situation that has the following characteristics::

  • Unexpected – the person is not prepared for what is happening and is caught off guard.
  • Dramatic – the situation has a deep emotional impact on the person.
  • Isolating – the person feels alone with their problem, does not share their pain or concerns with others, and does not seek help.
  • Lack of strategy – the person does not know how to resolve the situation and feels unable to take action.

The situation itself does not necessarily have to be dangerous or traumatic. What matters most is how the situation is perceived and experienced, and the emotions that arise in response to it.

In Metamedicine, the body, mind, and brain are seen as an inseparable whole. Every strong emotional reaction is expressed simultaneously on multiple levels—psychological, neurological, physical, and behavioural. When emotions associated with a difficult experience are not expressed or processed, they can become blocked.

This blocking can manifest on a physical level, creating areas of tension in the brain and in the body organs connected to the affected brain regions.

From a metamedicine perspective, a life event experienced as traumatic can become the starting point of both psychological and physical changes.

This holistic understanding supports the foundation of regression therapy by addressing emotional experiences at their root.

UNDERSTANDING THE HUMAN BEING

There are many ways to understand and approach human beings, and these perspectives do not need to contradict each other.

A human is a whole—body, mind (thoughts and emotions), and soul—and all three always function together. Every thought you have, and every emotion you feel, influences every cell of your body, because mental and physical reactions are deeply interconnected.
Conversely, what happens in your body also affects your mind and psyche. If even one part of you is not functioning harmoniously, the balance of the whole is disturbed, and this may manifest as a problem.
As the saying goes, there is no effect without a cause.

A human is their relationships.
The people you meet act as mirrors, reflecting aspects of yourself. Through these reflections, you gain insight into your own feelings and behaviours.

Time in the Present Moment
In the present moment, a human carries within them the past, experiences the present, and senses the future. The present is influenced by both conscious and unconscious memories from the past, and it is shaped by how brave or uncertain the person feels about the future.

By exploring the present in depth, it is possible to study decisions and beliefs formed in the past, relive certain situations, recognize the lessons, release tension, and regain personal power and energy. After this process, a person in the present is enriched with new knowledge, experiences, and a fresh perspective for the future.

During therapy, you learn to be more fully present, guiding and focusing your attention on the here and now. What does it mean to be more in the present? Only in the present can you take steps and actions that create new chains of events. In the present, you can fully express your emotions—joy, sadness, gratitude, and love.

What you allow or limit today shapes who you are.

Regression Therapy in Relation to Conventional Medicine

Regression therapy belongs to the field of complementary and alternative medicine. It is a form of psychotherapy and can be described as a “direct pathway” to the root cause of a problem. In regression therapy, challenges may resolve or shift relatively quickly once their underlying causes are brought into awareness. This process is not always easily measurable or fully understood from a conventional perspective, which is why its effects can sometimes feel surprising.

The professional training of a regression therapist includes, in addition to specialised therapy studies, a broad foundation in human anatomy and physiology, psychopathology, the principles of metamedicine, transpersonal psychology and therapy, general psychology, systemic family approaches, psychological support in trauma and crisis situations, as well as an overview of various therapeutic modalities.

As a regression therapist, I am open to and value collaboration with family doctors, medical specialists, and scientific or research institutions. I see cooperation between different fields as an important part of supporting a person’s overall wellbeing.

A note on responsibility and care. Regression therapy invites a broader understanding of health and wellbeing. In situations requiring acute medical care, conventional medicine plays an essential role.

Physical Symptoms

It may seem hard to believe, but physical symptoms are often connected to a person’s beliefs, thoughts, and emotions. On an intellectual level, these connections are not always easy to recognise or understand.

Regression is a process of turning inward—into one’s inner world and lived experience. Only at this level can meaningful insight emerge, as it allows exploration of where something went wrong and where the chain of events that now appears as a problem first began.

When a client says, “This is a problem that runs in our family,” regression therapy explores the underlying patterns, inherited beliefs, and experiences connected to that belief. By bringing these unconscious links into awareness, it becomes possible to understand and release what no longer serves the individual in the present.

Insights and Solutions

Regression therapy offers rapid insights into the root causes of challenges and can support their resolution. The main method used in regression therapy is the guided journey, conducted in an altered state of consciousness.

Regression Therapy for Children and Adolescents

Regression therapy is a suitable and effective approach for working with children and adolescents. Therapy with young clients is creative and playful, and they are often naturally engaged and curious in the process.

For adolescents under the age of 16 who are still dependent on their parents, parental consent is required. When a young person under 16 is still dependent on their parents, their challenges are closely connected to the family system. For this reason, I do not work only with the child or adolescent individually. When appropriate, therapy may involve the whole family.

This approach ensures that emotional support for children and adolescents is provided responsibly, respectfully, and in cooperation with parents.

Regression Therapy for Pregnant Women

Pregnancy is a very beautiful and special time in a woman’s life. Pregnant women can participate in regression therapy, but I ask that you inform me in advance so I can take this into account.

The therapy process is adapted to the needs of the client and to reflect that an unborn child is also part of the experience. During pregnancy, there are clear boundaries regarding what types of therapeutic work are possible and which goals are considered appropriate.

All sessions are conducted with the safety and wellbeing of both mother and unborn child in mind, providing careful and respectful emotional support for pregnant women throughout the therapy process.

WHO REGRESSION THERAPY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR

Regression therapy involves an altered state of consciousness. It is not suitable for individuals who have difficulty distinguishing between reality and non-reality, or between self and non-self, such as those with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders.

State of Shock

The main method used in regression therapy, the journey, is not suitable for individuals in an acute crisis or state of shock, when a person has lost adequate self-awareness.

In such cases, I first use other appropriate techniques to stabilize and support the client before any regression work.

Contraindications

I do not conduct regression therapy with clients who are under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances.

Regression therapy is also contraindicated for individuals whose psychiatric disorders are caused by brain injuries.

Uniqueness

You are unique

Your problem is unique because it belongs to you. Regression therapy is based on a unique combination: a unique problem, a unique client, and a unique therapist. The interplay of these three unique factors makes each session completely unique.

At the core of regression therapy is the person’s mental center, their tendencies, their higher potential, and a broader perspective.
